FTC Attorney



 FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is United States federal consumer protection agency. It was established in 1914 to prevent unfair methods of competition in commerce. It protects consumers from anticompetitive mergers and business practices such as monopolistic conduct, conspiracies.

FTC Attorney:

FTC Attorney or lawyers have consumer protection and competition jurisdiction in broad economic sectors.  It administers a variety of laws, such as the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Clayton Act.  The FTC also enforces rules issued pursuant to the Federal Trade Commission Act or other laws, including the Business Opportunity Rule and the Telemarketing Sales Rule.

FTC has talented law attorneys and judicial clerks with background in business, economics or antitrust who are interested in public service. FTC Attorney is highly competitive. 

The main qualities of FTC Attorney are:

Academic achievement

Law journal

Relevant writing experience

Moot court participation

Relevant antitrust

Business or economic coursework

Experience in corporate law/governance

Banking law & financial regulation

Telecom law or law & political economy

Demonstrated interest in public service

Entry-level FTC Attorneys may be assigned to one of the following divisions: 

Anticompetitive Practices

Health Care

Technology Enforcement Division

 Mergers I, Mergers II, Mergers III, or Mergers IV

The Bureau of Competition is interested in identifying talented attorneys and litigators with backgrounds in antitrust, business, or economics who are interested in public service. Positions are generally located in one of seven mergers or conduct enforcement divisions or litigation group, but opportunities may also arise in our Premerger Notification or Compliance divisions from time to time.

These opportunities to join the Bureau are highly competitive and selections may consider professional experience and background, academic achievement and scholarly work, and a demonstrated interest in public service amongst other factors.
